SAMIRA HODAEI
Headless Palms
03 April until 10 May 2025
‘Headless Palms’ is the first solo show by Iranian artist Samira Hodaei (*1981, Tehran, Iran) at Valerius Gallery.
The exhibition presents the artist’s latest series, Headless Palms of Arvand Kenar, exploring the complex relationship between the date palm and the people of southern Iran. By depicting headless palms—vital to the region's culture, economy, and spirituality—the artist highlights their significance. Set in Arvand Kenar, a region scarred by the Iran-Iraq war, the series reflects the lasting impact of the conflict on both the land and its people.
